The end part talks about not needing a disk. Please read and tell me if you think this will really work. Thanks =]

  • That website is not very clearly written. Yes, it's true that XP and Vista come with a built-in utility called "System Restore". But, this utility will only restore the operating system files to a previous date. Sometimes this will fix minor problems, but to fix most virus infections, or other major problems, you'll have to do a total reformat (sometimes called Recover) of your system.

Most newer brand-name PC's come with the files necessary to do a total Recover stored on a hidden partition on the Hard Drive. There's no disk necessary - just press a certain key combo during bootup and you'll come to a menu with options to totally erase your hard drive and Restore the PC to the day it was purchased. (Of course you'll lose all your personal data and programs unless you back them up first).
Send me the brand/model of your PC and I'll let you know if it includes a recover option on the hard drive.
    Good luck,

  • System Restore only restores a few system settings. It does not return your computer to factory settings.

However you still my not need a Windows disk. Many manufacturers now days put a spare copy of Windows on a hidden partition on your hard drive, which can be accessed by a special keyboard sequence. Contact your computers maker.
